Outcome-Based Education (OBE) is an educational framework and pedagogical philosophy that prioritises defining and structuring academic programs, including curricula and instructional practices, around well-defined outcomes that students are expected to achieve and demonstrate upon completing the program. This approach adopts a student-centred model of instruction, emphasising the assessment of student performance through measurable outcomes. These outcomes are a fine blend of knowledge, skills, competencies, attitudes, and understanding that students are expected to acquire upon successful engagement in a particular set of higher education experiences.
As embodied in the institution’s Vision and Mission, the educational approach of St Aloysius College is holistic and transformative. The college relentlessly strives to cultivate academic excellence and professional competence in its students, while fostering a profound sense of ethical, social, and environmental responsibility toward the communities they will serve. In tune with these guiding principles, St Aloysius College has implemented Outcome-Based Education (OBE) from 2022-2023 onwards. An OBE Committee has been established so as to lead and facilitate the implementation of OBE across the college. This committee convenes regularly to fine-tune assessment criteria and to monitor the progress of OBE implementation.
