The UGC has launched a scheme on skills development based higher education as part of college-university education, leading to Bachelor of Vocation (B.Voc) degree with lateral entry and multiple exit options at Diploma/Advanced Diploma level under the NSQF. St Aloysius College is the only college in the South being approved by the UGC for providing B.Voc Gemmology and B.Voc Jewellery Designing and one among the three in the country since 2014. The training with a theoretical background and technical proficiency enhances their potential to become professionals in this field. We were also recognized as a pioneer in vocational education and were entrusted with the new B.Voc programme in Nursery and Ornamental Fish Farming by UGC in the year 2018. The campus has the potential for training young people in the field of nursery and fish farming so as to equip them to work in the nurseries and farms. All the programmes are strongly supported by the allied industries/ institutions through MOU and LOI with the intension of nurturing the programme as required for the industry. The alumni are highly placed all over the World and a few are undergoing their masters and research in the field across the country. These vocational programmes are run under the Department of Vocational Studies under the guidance of Vocational Advisory committee and led by B.Voc Nodal Officer Dr. Bolie Therattil.
